🏛️ Museo Goya Facade (Zaragoza): Natural Stone, Engineering, and Art in a Single Project
The facade of the Museo Goya in Zaragoza has become an architectural landmark, combining artistic expression with sophisticated technical solutions. In this project, Strow Sistemas contributed with the design and fabrication of custom anchors, essential to ensure that each stone was installed with precision, safety, and durability.
Cutanda Limestone: Material with Character and Tradition
The main material of the facade is natural limestone, extracted from the Cutanda area (Teruel), renowned for quarries producing stone with light tones, elegant textures, and high weather resistance.
This limestone provides a warm aesthetic that complements the colors of Zaragoza’s historic center, while offering the robustness and durability needed for a facade that merges contemporary design with heritage value.
Large Stones with Goya Engravings
The stones used are of substantial size: 276 cm high × 50 cm wide × 20 cm thick. Each piece carries engravings inspired by the strokes and motifs of Francisco de Goya, transforming the facade into a monumental canvas that welcomes visitors from Calle Santiago.
Our Challenge: Custom Design and Fabrication of Anchors
Installing stones of this size and weight requires a precise technical solution. At Strow Sistemas, we developed a custom anchoring system that allows:

Fixing the anchors directly to the stone in the workshop.

Placing each stone in its position on the facade with the anchors already attached.

Finally securing the anchors to the rear metal structure, ensuring stability, safety, and long-term durability.
This method ensures that each stone integrates seamlessly into the facade and remains stable over time.
The facade is being executed by Fondoterra, working closely with José Luis Fondón, coordinating the integration of our anchors with the installation of the stones and ensuring that every piece fits perfectly.
A Facade in Dialogue with the City
Beyond its structural function, this facade serves as a symbolic and urban element. Its colors and textures connect with the identity of Zaragoza’s historic center, while the Goya engravings bring a contemporary and artistic language, uniting heritage, engineering, and architecture in a single project.
